Benedict Cumberbatch to Reteam With J.J. Abrams in ‘Star Wars Episode 7′
Another ” Star Wars Episode 7″ casting report emerges, and this time it mentions one of ” Star Trek Into Darkness” members. After securing J.J. Abrams, who directed the rival pic, Lucasfilm reportedly will cast one of today’s most-in-demand actors, Benedict Cumberbatch, for a role that remains unknown as of this
writing. According to Film Chronicles, Cumberbatch might be the major casting announcement that the Disney-owned studio allegedly will make”very soon.” His sudden departure from Guillermo Del Toro’s ” Crimson Peak”, which Bleeding Cool points out will start filming at about the same time as “Star Wars”, could also be a big hint. It even makes more sense as the British actor himself has once admitted that he is a fan of “StarWars”. “I was much more connected to [Star Wars] as a kid, in the way that a lot of kids are because it’s immediate storytelling, very simple – a beautifully, outrageously simple narrative in a way – and a wonderful three-act melodrama, opera,” he said to Total Film. Cumberbatch added, “And I loved them. I really, really loved those films and I always wanted to be Han Solo. Everything Harrison Forddid I just thought was the coolest thing ever.” Prior to this report, Alex Pettyferand Rachel Hurd-Woodwere said to have read for roles in the pic, which is expected to open in 2015.
