ASUU Denies Plan To Call-off Strike

ABUJA — ACADEMIC Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has described as speculative reports that the strike embarked upon by the union over the inability of the Federal Government to implement the 2009 agreement it willingly entered into with the union would be called off this Thursday.National President of ASUU, Dr. Nasir Fagge, told Vanguard that he was surprised to hear that the union was going to call off the strike on Thursday when the issues tabled before government had not been resolved.Faggae said: “There is nothing like that (suspending the strike). I am also surprised to hear people say that we are going to call off the strike.He said: “Our members have made it categorically clear what they want. This meeting we had with government on Friday at the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, is just exploratory.

It seems going on strike nd leaving all official duties behind is the best way to get answer from the government. Still on ASUU strike and we've not even receive any answers yet.

Now all local government will be going on a 3days warning strike starting tomorrow 29th Monday due to the reason that they're being cheated by the state government denying them autonomy I.e self governing.

Though, this autonomy issue is based on money, "you know na money dey spoil frends face". They complain their money don't come directly from the fed government but enroute the state government and some other bodies where the money would've suffered max reduction from this so call Oga at the top( state government).

Now the reason for this strike is they want to stand alone and the Senates denied their freedom.

Darlene Flynn: World’s Largest Shoe Collector Beaten To Death By Boyfriend

Darlene Flynn, a world-record collector who lived in a Menifee home packed with more than 15,000 shoes and shoe-themed items, once said she would be surrounded by shoes when she dies, according to The Press-Enterprise.

That prediction came true on Monday, July 22, but in a way she likely never imagined. She was beaten with a baseball bat at her Stone Lane home and found dead in her backyard pool.

Her on-again, off-again boyfriend, Justin Charles Smith, was charged Thursday with murder in Flynn’s death. Smith is alleged to have used a baseball bat as the weapon, court records show.

Smith was scheduled for arraignment Thursday afternoon but did not enter a plea. He sat in the jury box in a Riverside courtroom wearing orange jail clothes and shackles, his head bowed, looking older than his 29 years, as a crowd of journalists trained their cameras on him.

His arraignment is now set for Aug. 8 and he is being held with bail set at $1 million.

After the hearing was over, he looked into the audience and appeared to blink back tears.

Talented Nollywood actress Chioma Chukwuka has finalized the burial ceremony of her late mother in Anambra state.

Chioma’s mum, Mrs Egoyibo Chukwuka who died on the 22nd of May 2013 was peacefully laid to rest on the 24th & the 25th of July in Irefi Oraifite, Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra.

The self-proclaimed spiritualist even provided a number where people can call him for spiritual help relating to poverty or any disease.

To further worsen the matter, he has different Facebook accounts in different countries where he shared the same photos to attract potential victims.

The most populous city in the United States of America, Detroit has filed for the largest bankruptcy in history.

According to court documents, the city of Detroit in Michigan just filed a bankruptcy protection over a whopping $18.5 Billion debt.

Due to the highest number of crime, the population of Detroit has reduced to 685,000 as at today.

In a tell-it-all interview with Kayode Aponmade, the actress spoke at length on her motherhood experience, her relationship with ex-lawmaker Dino Melaye and many other issues.

When did your romance with acting start?Right from my primary school, I always participate in anything entertainment. I fell in love with acting right from school. So, after school I decided to take it professionally and since then I have no regrets. I was brought into acting by the late Bimpe Adekola (Ireti). She was the one that motivated me into acting. Whenever I watched her movies, I always like her performance, so I said to myself that I would love to be like that. So I went to see Gbenga Adewusi, who introduced me to Araosan, who later took me to Odunfa where I met Taiwo Hassan, Yinka Quadri and Abbey Lanre. I was so happy; it was like meeting Michael Jackson. So they accepted me and I received my training under them.

For how long have you been in the profession?

About 21 years now.

So how has it been since then?

It has been rough and tough. At the same time, it has been full of fun. There is no job without its own challenges, but so far, it has been fun. This is what I have passion for, so I have had no regret at all. I went through series of challenges but since I don’t see myself doing any other thing except acting, I trudged on. The experience has been good and nice.

How many movies have you produced on your own?

I have produced just three movies; Oyin Ade, Omo Jesu and Igboran San.

Why just three films?

I didn’t start producing my own movies until 2004. If you know me very well, I am not that kind of person that jumps into movie production simply because others are doing it. I received very good training, that is the reason I was able to come out with good films. I can’t be producing films every other day because my films gulp lots of money unlike those who spend peanuts on their movies. I take my time to produce.

Are you working on any movie for now?

Yes, I am working on a movie.

You are now a mother. How do you feel?

In fact, this is the greatest thing to have happened to me. I am exceedingly happy to be a mother. I am so grateful to God that He has counted me among mothers. This is what I have wished for all my life. Motherhood is sweet!

Campaign For Dmocracy: So, Who Killed Kudirat Abiola?

This should be the question on the lips of every man and woman of conscience, considering the acquittal last week of Maj. Hamza al-Mustapha, Chief Security Officer of ex-military dictator, Gen. Sani Abacha.

The governor of Rivers State, Mr Rotimi Amaechi, has dismissed an untrue, allegations by wife of President Goodluck Jonathan that Governor Amaechi imposed a 9month curfew on her people in Okrika, a troubled local government area in the state.

Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mrs Ibim Semenitari who spoke on behalf of Amaechi , also said the state government did not carry out the demolition it had planned around a school in Okrika to create a play ground for children at the model school being built in the area.

The publisher of Global News appears to have landed himself in a quandary for his article, which portrays the successful businessman and entrepreneur, Tunde Folawiyo in a negative light.

The article which refers to Mr. Folawiyo as a “reckless billionaire” was published in the 22nd July edition of the gossip magazine.

In a letter from Mr. Folawiyo’s solicitors:
The New Practice (TNP) dated 12th July 2013, Mr. Segun Ogunbunmi, the publisher of Global News, was given seven days to issue a full retraction and apology on terms acceptable to the billionaire or face legal consequences for his actions, not limited to charges for criminal .

The letter goes on to say that Global News has left itself exposed to Criminal Liability under Section 375 of the Criminal Code Law of Lagos State 2003.

Rochas Okorocha, the governor of Imo State has sacked Nigerian actress Nkiru Sylvanus, a former Special Assistant.

According to sources, the actress from Abia state was given the appointment under a controversial circumstance few years back, an issue that has caused more uproar among Imo citizens.

On Wednesday, the actress and other aides were sacked from Okorocha’s cabinet after an executive council meeting that held in Owerri.

The actress that served as Okorocha’s special assistant was first given an appointment to oversee matters concerning natives of Imo State in Lagos before she was redeployed to Owerri as a special assistant.

Amaechi In Rivers State: Another 8 Governors Visited Him

The eight governors met with embattled Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi in Port Harcourt on Thursday and expressed their displeasure with the manner the Presidency has handled issues relating to the fracas in the state House of Assembly. They urged Amaechi to meet President Jonathan for a truce.

The eight governors who visited Aamechi are:
Babatunde Fashola, Lagos; Kayode Fayemi, Ekiti; Ibukunle Amosu, Ogun; Rauf Aregbesola, Osun; and Abiola Ajumobi, Oyo State. Deputy governors of Imo, Nassarawa and Zamfara states, represented their state governors.

Mystery: Goat With Two Heads (2-Headed) Delivered In Ilorin Kwara State

One of a kind animal delivery happened at an Islamic village called Dawodu in Ilorin, the capital city of Kwara State Nigeria.

A she goat gave birth to a bizarre creature with two heads yesterday.

According to a witness, the labour yell of the she-goat was heard at about 4am on Thursday morning.

The labour pain became intense which forced the area residents to come out to see what was happening.

And to their surprise, they found the goat trying to deliver.

A pastor with the Deeper Life Bible Church, Eze Fidelis, has been arrested by men of the Edo State Police Command for allegedly defiling two teenagers at the same time.

Fidelis was among the 32 suspects paraded for various offences ranging from kidnapping, car snatching, armed robbery, cultism and fraud.

He was alleged to have had carnal knowledge of a nine years old girl at Abudu in Orhionmwon Local Government Area of the state.

The state Police Commissioner, Foluso Adebanjo, said it was the victim’s father that noticed that she was not walking fine and upon enquiry said the painful movement was as a result of sexual intercourse with the pastor.

In a chat with journalists, Fidelis blamed the devil for his ordeal, saying he committed the act over a year ago.

He said the victims who are in primary school came to his house during school-break but did not have proper sex with them.

A Nigerian collapsed and died at the JFK airport in New York.

A Nigerian, identified as Gunseye Adekunle, 50, of New Jersey, collapsed and died on July 13 at the JFK International Airport in New York.

The News Agency of Nigeria quotes local media as reporting that that the man died after suffering a heart attack at Terminal 4 of the airport while preparing to board an Arik Air flight to Nigeria.

The two teams of first responders failed to reach him because their electronic identity cards could not open the secure doors at the newly renovated Delta terminal.
