Amaechi group battles Wike in war of words

With the National PDP in division, Rivers state PDP is also in an epileptic situation with the state Chairman on the Supervising Minister of Education group and not in support of the State Governor. Chief Felix Obuah,The Chairman of People Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State chapter, has berated Pro-Amaechi
group, headed by Charles Bekwele, over verbal attacks on him and the Supervising Minister of Education, Chief Nyesom Wike. Chief Felix Obuah described Bekwele’s outbursts against them as deliberate lies intended to get the attention of Rivers people. He said Bekwele was merely being used by the Rivers State Government to raise diversionary and false alarm and making unsubstantiated allegations that plans were underway to kidnap the Rivers State governor and force him to resign. The State PDP chairman said he and Wike as well as others party members would remain loyal to the president. In a seeming counter attack, the Rivers’ People Forum yesterday called on President Goodluck Jonathan to summarily sack the Supervising Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike, over what it called, ‘his nauseating and vile comments’ to the effect that he would not resolve the lingering national strike by university lecturers for another few months. The President of RPF, Charles Bekwele, in a statement alleged that Wike’s comments showed clearly that he was incompetent and called on the president to terminate his appointment without delay. According to RPF, Wike’s sack would save the education sector from imminent and total collapse. The statement read in part: “We have said time and again, that Nyesom Wike does not mean well for President Goodluck Jonathan. He also said that minister is a threat to democracy and he’s hell-bent on destroying the Jonathan administration. Wike’s actions, inactions and statements are injurious, inimical and pernicious to the President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration and he will continue to embarrass, humiliate and do enormous damage to the Jonathan presidency.
