BIG MISTAKE: Snake Charmer Die Over Deadly Trick

Puff Adder
A young man identified as Okpunor Idegwu in Ubulu-Ugbo Quarters, Ubulu-Unor, Aniocha South local government area of Delta State, said to be a local snake charmer, was last Friday killed by a puff adder after a dramatic performance with the snake.

LEADERSHIP reliably gathered that the snake charmer in the company of some of other snake charmers, were performing tricks with the snake to the admiration of onlookers when the unexpected happened.
“While he was displaying different tricks to prove his immunity to snake bites, one of the snakes he brought out of the bag raised its head high and in the process of trying to tame it, it struck him on the chest and he collapsed after which he was taken to a nearby hospital where he died,” a source narrated.
One of the deceased’s relations, Sylvester Idekwe, who lamented his demise, said the late Okpunor believed in snake charms to the extent that whenever he saw a snake, rather than kill it, he would hold it with his bare hands and play with it to the admiration of his fans.
LEADERSHIP gathered that the remains of the victim have been deposited at a morgue in Ogwashi-Uku General Hospital.
