Mother Cry Out: My 7Yrs Old Ekene is HIV Positive

"Mummy my head is paining me" little Ekene told his mum. He has been complaining of serious headache for some months now and he has also been having serious fever at night.Mercy, his mother, took out a dosage of paracetamol for her 7yr old boy. Come and drink tomorrow we will go to the hospital again. The doctors have conducted series of tests and he just has malaria which gets treated but comes back after some months. She was going to try out a teaching hospital this time she thought to herself. She had checked his body for wounds but found nothing."God dey" she sighed. The following morning she dressed him to be taken to another hospital for treatment. She hadn't slept a wink, Ekene had convulsed throughout the night and she could need some sleep. The stress was too much for her, she has to fend for him, clothe him without a husband, her husband had died in an accident since Ekene was 3yrs. She was a teacher and had no time for herself and sometimes she had to conduct lessons. She always looked weak, the stress was too much for her. The doctor had taken blood samples from him to run some tests. He would run some blood tests like genotype, malaria, typhoid, WBC and HIV test. She chuckled when she saw the list. HIV test for a little boy, anyway, that's protocol she smiled to herself. nanny for her taking care of Ekene for 2yrs to go get the test results. Margaret was always fondof Ekene but he never seemed to like her, he always complained that he hated her."Mummy I don'tlike Aunty Maggie" he never ceased to say. She would shut himup or ignore him. She was grateful for the little help she got from her.She reached the hospital and went to their lab to get the result. The lab attendant nonchalantly handed her the test result and she took it to the doctor. The doctor was alone in the office as she stepped in. He read the result out to her but she couldn't believe he rears, she screamed and jumped up and down and tore her clothes. The security guarded her out. "How could my Ekene be HIV positive" she couldn't believe it. She had run some tests when she was pregnant and wasn't infected. Ekene had never had anyblood transfusion so how on earth did he get infected. There must be a problem with thei rmachine, she must go to another hospital she said to herself. She headed home from the hospital. She was numb, she couldn't go to the market again. She took a bus home as she felt the burden of the world on her shoulders."Chinekeeee" Mercy screamed."Margaret what are you doing to my son?" Margaret who had forced Ekene on top of her like she always did and was guiding his little pecker into her froze at the sound of Mercy's voice. Mercy froze and was short of words. Shedidn't know if she was to scream or shout or hit Margaret, what action seemed right at the moment? Mercy came home earlier than Margaret expected and she caught her molesting the little boy. So this was how the poor boy contracted the virus from."Mummy, I don't like Aunty Maggie" the sounds echoed in herhead. She should have asked him why, she should have paid more attention. She was too busy to notice that her baby was getting molested by a beast. What did shehave to gain from a kid? Mercy slumped, the world was over for her. Parents should educate their kids on sex education early enough, they should be careful who they leave their kids with. They should call them and ask them what they feel about a certain guardian. Guard your kids, they are not too young to contract HIV
