Luis Suarez Has Been Named Player Of The Year By Football Writers’ Association

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has been named as the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year.

The Uruguayan won 52% of the vote to pip Reds teammate Steven Gerrard and Manchester City’s Yaya Toure to the award.

Suarez, 27, has scored 30 goals this season to help the Merseysiders challenge for their first league title in 24 years.

“Those members who have been fortunate enough to be working at a match involving Luis Suarez have witnessed an astonishing talent first-hand,” FWA chairman Andy Dunn told the association’s official website.

“Tireless endeavour allied to extraordinary imagination makes an irresistible combination. Add ingenious, impudent finishing and you have a footballer who truly quickens the pulse.”

Suarez recently won the Professional Footballers’ Association’s Player of the Year award
